About Us & Our Farm

Mother - the first chicken

Our Philosophy

At Family Heritage Acres, everything we do begins with empathy, love, and a little chicken named Mother. From our family to yours, we raise healthy, heritage breeds with care —so families, homesteaders, and small farms can thrive. Because when animals are nurtured with heart, the whole community grows stronger, one happy hen at a time.

Our Farm Animals

  • Farm animals are treated like family, even those we barely get to know

  • Chicks and chickens are only exposed to safe foods and animals

  • For biosecurity chickens are fenced but given plenty of room to roam or socialize

  • All animals are monitored daily for health and wellbeing

Our Customer Care

  • We focus on heritage and rare chickens because there's something special about each breed

  • There's something special about each customer, too, and we love that

  • Repeat customers are our  lifeblood, and we hope you know and feel that in every interaction

About Us

Meet Jason | Farm Manager & Chicken Whisperer

I spent nearly a decade recovering from a brain injury—years filled with uncertainty, struggle, and darkness. For a long time, we didn’t even know what was wrong. Healing truly began when we left the city for a quieter life in the country. That’s where I met Mother—a single, wayward hen who wandered into our lives and never left.

She became my turning point. Caring for her, then for many others, helped bring me back to life. Chickens gave me purpose. And purpose gave me hope.

Today, I pour that same care into every chick, chicken, and egg we raise. Farming isn’t just work—it’s heart. It’s healing. And it’s home.

Meet Sheri | Co-Founder, Mom, and Chief Chicken Officer

I’m a tax professional by trade—but a mother first and always. When my son Jason faced a long and difficult recovery from a brain injury, our world changed. We moved to the country, searching for peace. And then one day, a little hen we named Mother wandered into our lives and quietly changed everything.

She sparked something in Jason—and in me. Watching him heal through caring for animals led me to discover a new passion of my own: raising heritage and rare breed chickens and sharing the joy of farm life with others.

Today, I bring over 25 years of financial and business expertise to our hatchery, ensuring everything runs smoothly—from the books to the brooder. But it’s the people—and the animals—that truly make it all worth it. This farm is our heart. And we’re so glad to share it with you.
